We’ve seen an increase in reports of phone calls being incorrectly labeled as spam, ringing briefly then going silent, or failing to connect entirely. This problem affects all phone platforms, including VoIP solutions.
What’s Happening
The issues primarily involve calls to T-Mobile or US Cellular numbers. Both carriers now utilize T-Mobile’s network infrastructure, which has implemented more aggressive spam-blocking filters. Legitimate business numbers making outbound customer calls are being flagged incorrectly by these systems.
What You Can Do
Register with the Free Caller Registry
We recommend registering your business numbers with the Free Caller Registry to help carriers recognize your numbers as legitimate.
Submit Carrier Reclassification Requests
If your calls are being blocked or labeled as spam, you can submit your numbers directly to carriers through their spam reclassification request forms:
- T-Mobile: callreporting.t-mobile.com
- Verizon: voicespamfeedback.com
- AT&T: Hiya Help Center
- US Cellular: https://reportarobocall.com/trf
These forms allow carriers to review and mark your business numbers as legitimate contacts.
A Temporary Workaround When Calls Still Won’t Go Through
In some cases, outbound calls may continue to fail or be flagged as spam even after following the steps above. When an urgent call needs to connect, a temporary workaround that has proven effective is *dialing “67” before the destination number.
Dialing *67 suppresses outbound caller ID, causing the call to appear as Anonymous or Private. While the recipient won’t see your number, this often allows the call to bypass spam filtering, ring through successfully, or at minimum reach voicemail.
Example:
*6715635551234
This gives you the ability to leave a voicemail asking the recipient to call you back—often preferable to the call never connecting at all.
Important: This should be used sparingly and as a short‑term measure. Registering outbound numbers with mobile carriers remains the recommended long‑term solution for reliable call delivery.
