How it Works

ITS Online Backup is a file-based backup solution. A lightweight software application is installed on each machine and users control files placed in the backup sets. This allows users to control size and cost of the backup set. Files backed up through the ITS Online Backup can be stored on-premise on a dedicated backup server in your office, or sent and stored encrypted to the ITS data center. Backup files sent offsite to the ITS data center create a bullet-proof disaster recovery solution — your files are safe and recoverable if disaster strikes your office.

ITS also utilizes a full-featured product via ShadowProtect that includes all network files. A system state backup is stored independently of your incremental file backups, providing the ability to restore from a bare-metal recovery. Data is typically stored on specialized hardware at your place of business, but can also be replicated to the ITS data center. Bare-metal recovery options provide a quicker resolution.

Secure Transit, Secure Storage

Having your data backed up off-site is only an effective practice if you can be guaranteed that your data is safe. The ITS online backup software transfers your data via the internet from your computer(s) to our Iowa data center. Before leaving your computer(s) the data is encrypted with 128-bit AES encryption using a passcode of your choice. The transmission of data takes place via an SSL tunnel. The data remains encrypted on our servers. The data is only decrypted during a restore operation.
