Common Windows Login Errors

Quick reference for resolving the most common Windows login issues we see in the field.

"Low on resources"

Usually occurs on shared computers, such as in a computer lab. This can happen if users do not completely log out and simply use the "Switch User" option.

Potential Fix

Shut down and reboot the computer.

"No logon servers available"

Usually occurs when the computer has lost its network connection for some reason.

Potential Fix

Make sure the computer is either plugged into the network with a network cable, or if the computer is wireless, make sure that wireless has not been disabled. Also make sure the computer is not connected to a guest wireless network.

"Trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain has failed"

Something has happened that broke the computer's connection to the network domain.

Potential Fix

Plug the laptop into an ethernet jack and send the computer hostname to ITS. We can usually fix this remotely.
